While the following testimony is from 2011, it's still relevant today.
A few days ago, I received a phone call from my grandchildren’s school. My immediate reaction upon seeing the number on my phone’s caller ID was to think, “Oh no, what now?” Upon answering, this unfamiliar, unassuming voice asked for me by name. Hesitantly, I responded, “This is she.” Well, the lady went on to explain that the Pre-Kindergarten program had an opening and if I was still interested…and before she could finish her spill, I quickly chimed in a resounding, “YES! Oh yes, what do I need to do?”
You see, my excitement was six months in the making. In late August, I registered all three children for school, or at least attempted, but there was no room for the youngest. I was grateful to get the two older ones in the school, but the little one would have to wait. The Pre-K program was filled to capacity, with a long waiting list; so long that he was number 66 on that list. I wasn’t eager, but accepting that God said I had to wait, that is what I did. There was something for which He was preparing us. The book of the prophet Isaiah (40:31) encourages us to wait on the Lord and when we do, there is a great reward. Now, if you’re anything like me, you’ll appreciate that I wasn’t much into the waiting, but I understood it was necessary. I had become resolved that he would probably not get into school until the following school year. I’m not saying it was easy. There were days when the four-year-old and I seemed to be in a boxing ring together and he came out the winner. I was beaten down at times, worn completely thin. Was I doing well? Sure! Were good things happening? Absolutely! I knew it was the right thing to do, but I had become weary. Well, Galatians 6:9 says, “9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.”
‘For in due season’ – hmmm… Yes, His word IS true. Believe it; believe Him.
